Michael Delaney, background on

With over thirty years experience working with heavy industrial plant and machinery, Michael brings a wealth of hands-on extensive knowledge in machinery to our customers, with a very practical approach combined with extensive knowledge when delivering safety training on heavy plant machinery and work equipment.

Michael Delaney has progressed throughout the industry with a passion for machinery safety and hydraulics, started his career at a young age and in 1986 commended a trade apprenticeship in Heavy Plant Fitting, qualifying in his trade in Ireland and working for a major civils contractor on a national pipe-laying project.

In 1994 his work then took him to America where he spent several years working as a plant fitter maintaining and repairing Drilling equipment, drill Rigs, Barges, Crushers, vehicle fragmatisers, shredders, hammer-mills, ball-mills and mobile plant in large scale quarries (Blue Circle, Volcan) and processing plants throughout Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Consequent to this work, Michael was involved in in-depth forensic examination of machinery involved in accidents, generating what would lead to his passion for safety in industry and the steering of his career into delivery of plant training and inspection.

Upon returning to Ireland in 1999, Michael set up as a rock drilling and crushing contractor with several drill rigs and crushing equipment operating on major road infrastructure projects in the UK and Ireland.
In 2001, international environmental directives created industry demand for C&D (Construction & Demolition) recycling leading to Michael moving into a role as Production Manager on a major C&D waste recycling and processing plant in North Dublin and major involvement in demolition works in Dublin city and subsequently as a contract heavy plant fitter conducting plant set-up, repair, diagnostic and maintenance works and production of materials in quarries and plants throughout Ireland.

West Africa was the next destination on the heavy plant career path and Michael spent several years where he set up and developed from sparse bush land a fully functioning aggregate quarry and several asphalt and crushing plants near Accra, Ghana and Benue State, Nigeria.

Upon leaving Africa, Michael has continued to work with plant and machinery in high risk environments; underground in Tara Mines with mining equipment, several years in tunneling in the UK as a TBM and SCL Supervisor in London on the largest tunneling project in Europe (Crossrail), safety trainer and mentor in a pre-cast company more recently as Site Project Management airside at Dublin Airport and delivering training on various types of work equipment in the quarrying, construction, agricultural, tunneling and C&D and metal waste recycling industries.
